Book clubs, pre-internet, were like the internet: if you lived in a small town and loved science fiction and fantasy, it was like plugging into the greater world. Of course, like most boons, it came with a price, especially if you were the ADD sort and inclined to misplace those Decline This Order cards.
And it’s probably 20 years old; sold to The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction way back when.
One of my favorite writers. I’m looking forward to re-reading The Digging Leviathan, especially; a pre-cursor in tone to his forth-coming Zeuglodon.
